A personal development plan is something that may be very helpful or very destructive. The idea of this item is to make a person to be better. Not one person is perfect and everyone would like to live a better life. Fortunately, this is possible is certain tips are followed when the plan is created.
The first tip is to make sure that the development plan has a time frame to be completed. People tend to lose hope and quit when they feel they have not made any progress after trying for a period of time. They need to have steps in the plan that is to be completed in a certain amount of time. People need to know how close they are to their goal. This keeps them motivated and committed to their plan.
The second tip would be for the plan to be catered towards improving weaknesses instead of strengths. People tend to underestimate themselves. They only use about 30 percent of their brains. They do not know what they are capable of doing. Their weaknesses can always be improved. Their weaknesses are what make them feel like failures in life. If their weaknesses are not changed, they will always feel like they need to work on improving themselves.
The third tip is to set specific goals in the plan. People are less effective when they do not have any focus. This is what the Japanese and many Asian cultures are aware of. This is why such a large number of Indians become doctors and Japanese and Chinese become scientists. They set specific goals on attaining education that allows them to reach these careers. If they chose various goals at the same time, they would never arrive at these successful careers. Many people aim to speak two or three languages and have varying degrees. They want to be good at science, math, spelling, writing, reading and almost every other subject. The problem is that they are less likely to reach a specific career goal if they have too many goals that they are focused on.
The fourth and final tip is very easy to follow. It is to never give up on this plan. This means to dedicate oneself to it. Quitters never are able to better themselves. They live as failures and have major deficiencies and problems. A plan can only be completed by people who are willing to keep trying and are consistent.
